Budget 2012: Corporation Tax cut from 26% to 24%

One of several announcements from today’s 2012 Budget – Chancellor George Osborne has announced that the Main Rate of Corporation Tax rate (the rate paid by the majority of medium to large businesses in the UK) is to drop by an additional 1% from the current rate of 26% to 24% at the beginning of the new financial year. There was unfortunately no news for those freelancers and contractors operating their own limited company, the vast majority of whom pay the Small Profits Rate of Corporation Tax. This rate remains at 20%. The 2012 Budget is still ongoing, more news as we get it! Photo byZechariah Judy
